Jason ordered a strawberry milkshake yesterday at a little restaurant in Chinatown, and this is what he ended up with. The juice part was slightly rose flavored, and the floaters had the texture of calamari and a stronger roselike flavor than the juice. All we can think of is that the waitress must have thought he pointed to the lychee juice just above the strawberry milkshake on the menu (the place also offered avacado milkshakes, and though I love avacados, I shudder to think what could have come in a glass). Though he's a good sport, Jason's not terribly adventurous when it comes to trying new foods, and something about this made us--well, especially me--giggle all through lunch.
well i've been stalking your blog for some time now. just wanted to say i think this is hilarious. ha...ordering the wrong thing is funny. and even better, poking fun at the person who did it. i'm still trying to live down a drunken chicken fried steak order by some old friends in CA.
Mmm....squidrose shake...
only a poop malt could top that one. yuk.
I, personally, have never been accustomed to ingesting things with floral flavorings, but in France violet is a pretty common cocktail theme. I still don't quite "get it" but have no problem drinking one. I've also seen violet flavored candies and Anne had violet ice cream during her visit. Haven't tried rose though...
KATE had the violet ice cream. I had peach. But I tried the violet ice cream. It surprised me because it actually tasted like violets. I don't know what I was expecting... but I didn't know flowers could seem so much like food.
Ladies and gentlemen: my memory! It’s funny what I manage to get turned around in my little brain. :o) Thanks for setting the record straight, Anne. I remember that NOW. *sigh*
